Gunmen attacks Arthur Jarvis University in Cross River State, kidnaps female student

A female student at a private institution located in Cross River state has been abducted by unidentified armed men.

According to reports, the allegedly kidnapped female student attended Arthur Jarvis University in Cross River State’s Akpabuyo Local Government.

On Tuesday, July 19, at around 8 o’clock in the evening, the armed men allegedly broke into the female dormitory before kidnapping the student.

Following a statement made by the school’s acting registrar, Mrs. Ughas Ngoszi said the university’s administration had contacted security assistance to help control the situation. She also advised all students and staff to carry on with their regular activities.

“Management is on top of events and the security agencies are in control of the situation. All students and staff are please requested to remain calm and go about their normal duties.”

Additionally, the general public is urged to stop disseminating misleading information.

According to a person familiar with the incident, numerous students were hurt while rushing to flee the attack. The police public relations officer stationed at Irene Ugbo claimed that Aminu Alhassan, the police commissioner, had sent out anti-cultism and anti-kidnapping squads to restore peace and normalcy to the community and to ensure the safety of the kidnapped victim.
