EPL: Carragher criticizes FIFA’s World Cup decision as “absolute disgrace” and “disgusting”

The date of this year’s World Cup has drawn criticism from Jamine Carragher, who called it a complete shame.

After witnessing Son Heung Tottenham forward-min suffer an injury during their Champions League matchup against Marseille on Tuesday, he said this.

Before the football governing body decided to shift the dates owing to the weather in Qatar, the World Cup was typically held between June and July.

During Spurs’ 2-1 triumph, South Korea’s captain was substituted due to a horrific head collision.

The attacker, 30, has less than a month to heal after being seen with a swollen eye during Tottenham’s post-game celebrations.

Legendary Liverpool and England player Carragher criticized FIFA’s choice to move up the World Cup.

“I think it’s an absolute disgrace that the World Cup is in the position that it’s in, for lots of reasons. As said by Carragher, to CBS Sports.

“Players who spend their whole lives dreaming of playing in a World Cup and now could be [out] – as we’ve seen with Son,” He said
